Bringing the new CRE lingo back to India

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Posted by: Ash Sharma, Senior Vice President, Markets, India

Because I represent landlords, the Summit has been an amazing opportunity to network with occupiers and build that developer-occupier relationship for my clients, such as Mr Jiten Uttvani from Wadhwa who is also here from India.

I’ve picked up a lot of new lingo from the CRE industry – new terminologies and trends. For example, there is a lot of talk around productivity, change management, and the relationship between CRE and procurement. These are not necessarily the things that our landlord and developer clients are talking about but it is important for them to understand what is driving occupiers in the region.

I’ll be taking these learnings back to India and promoting them to my colleagues and clients so that they too can benefit from the sharing of knowledge and best practice at the Summit.

Ash

Enjoying the views over Singapore’s skyline at Dolce Vita

Head of Project and Development Services, Asia Pacific

I had the privilege to attend our CoreNet dinner last night held at the Mandarin Oriental’s Italian restaurant Dolce Vita. We were welcomed with a thirst quenching mandarin cocktail and stunning views over Singapore’s skyline, a perfect start to a wonderful evening.

The night was a huge success with more than 60 regional and international clients joining Jones Lang LaSalle’s senior directors from Asia Pacific, Europe and America.  There was a real buzz as guests mingled and enjoyed fantastic food served from live food stations set up around the pool.

Of course, the fun was all captured on camera! Below are a few photographs taken on the night; to check out the full photo gallery click here.

Reimagining the role of CRE at the CoreNet Asia Summit

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

Posted by: John Forrest, CEO Corporate Solutions, Asia Pacific

As the countdown to the 2012 Asia Summit begins, we are looking forward to a record turn out with more than 500 senior industry executives descending on the Ritz Carlton hotel next week!

The theme of this year’s Summit—Reimagine: Reorient - Reignite - Reinvent—reflects the evolving role of CRE as companies face increasing change and uncertainty. The challenges come in many forms; from balancing growth during economic turbulence to preparing for natural disasters, from introducing new technological innovations to operating across diverse and culturally complex markets.

As companies worldwide grapple with the impact of these changes, CRE executives have an increasingly important role to play. The Summit will be a great opportunity for us all to share our collective experience to ensure that the industry in Asia Pacific is ready for the challenge.

As in previous years, my colleagues and I will be sharing the highlights live from the Summit. Whether or not you are attending the Summit, I encourage you to add your thoughts by leaving your ‘comments’ on our blog. Let’s get the conversation started!

John

Delivering Results, Strengthening Ties

Strategic Consulting

As the CoreNet Global Summit in Atlanta approaches, I’m thinking of this year’s theme of social dynamics and connectivity, and the many ways they apply to our industry. The idea that resonates most strongly for me is the need for CRE directors to stay connected to the industry and to senior leaders within their companies.

We’re all aware of the vexing issue of aligning real estate strategies with strategic business priorities. Companies are in a constant state of change, and your success as a CRE leader depends on your ability to anticipate how the next economic shift or market innovation will affect your company’s real estate needs.

Jones Lang LaSalle can do a lot to help you contend with change, by helping you stay connected to CRE trends and applying best practices to your business. But to see what’s over the horizon for your company, there’s no substitute for a strong relationship with your senior leadership. The more connected you are to their plans, the less likely you are to be hit with an unexpected change in priorities. That level of trust comes from a track record of CRE having delivered breakthrough results in the past, which is why we focus so much on strategies that strengthen those ties.

Of course, CoreNet events are a great way to connect with the CRE community as well. If you’re on your way to Atlanta, we’ll see you soon. If you can’t make it this time, I hope this blog will help you stay connected.
